The Illinois Club Scholarship Awards

Diverse and welcoming, The Illinois Club draws its membership from all areas of the University as well as the surrounding community. Although founded in 1906 as a faculty wives’ and women’s club, one quarter of its members are now men. Since 1917, The Illinois Club has provided financial support to worthy undergraduate students. They now award scholarships in excess of $20,000 each year.
Award Designations
Make-A-Difference Award
These scholarships are awarded to anyone who is making a difference, or has concrete plans for doing so.
The Judith Life Ikenberry Fine Arts Award
This scholarship is awarded to a student in the College of Fine and Applied Arts or to a Creative Writing major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The Isabelle Purnell Education Award
These scholarships are awarded to students who are earning a Teaching Certificate.
The Isabelle Purnell Education Award
Susan T. Haney Social Work Award
This scholarshp is awared to a student in the School of Social Work.
How to Apply
Applications are due in mid-late Fall. Applications, criteria, and directions, can be downloaded and submitted via www.theillinoisclub.org
All applicants must submit a resumé, essay, transcript, and an award history from UI Integrate Self Service with their application. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged with an e-mail.
Semifinalists are interviewed early Spring semester. Winners are notified shortly thereafter and a Scholarship Awards Brunch honoring the winners will follow. For further details see www.theillinoisclub.org/scholarship.php and the application.
