Gender & Sexuality Resource Center Advisory Committee

Mission Statement

The mission of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center is to foster an environment that is open, safe and inclusive for people of all sexualities and gender identities. The Center is a resource not only for the LGBTQ+ community but for the entire University community. It exists for anyone who is who is interested in learning about LGBTQ+ people, issues, and concerns. For the LGBTQ+ community, the Center provides support for full inclusion of everyone in the University — including those who experience discrimination or who need support as a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender campus community.

Committee Charge

The purpose of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center Advisory Committee is to review, evaluate and make recommendations regarding the policies, programs, resources and services of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center by serving the needs of students, staff, faculty, and community members of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. The committee works to ensure an environment where interdisciplinary learning acknowledges and recognizes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The committee also provides advice and recommendations regarding resources related to the support for the center, including budget, personnel and facilities. The committee should seek to enhance the goals of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center by supporting the educational, cultural, social, and developmental needs of students and of advancing cross-cultural awareness on campus and in the wider community.

Roster

  • 2 student members
  • 10-12 faculty/staff members
  • 1 ex officio member (Assistant Director of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center)

Time Commitment

1-hour monthly meeting during the academic year with possible 1-3 hours per month of additional contribute to complete committee tasks.

Term Limit

  • 2 years for chair/cochair
  • 3 for a general member
