Resilience Sustainability Working Advisory Team

Mission Statement / Committee Charge

The Resilience SWATeam (iCAP team) focuses on climate adaptation and community capacity-building to deal with a changing climate and resulting extremes, in support of Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP) objectives. The team was initially charged because of a joint climate resilience proclamation from the University of Illinois and the cities of Urbana and Champaign. The team, comprised of campus and community members, works to bring campus and the greater community together to address what must be done to prepare for vulnerabilities to extreme weather and other results of climate change, and addresses local biodiversity, environmental justice, and sustainable opportunities for campus members. The iCAP teams are tasked with recommending sustainable actions and concrete steps that should be taken to meet and support iCAP goals, and report annually on progress made toward Illinois Climate Action Plan objectives.
